Album Notes
"Keys in Ascension" October 2009

Lionel Hampton Bassist Releases New CD October 9th 2009.

Lionel Hampton Big Band bassist Christian Fabian releases his new CD "Keys in Ascension" on CAP Records. His fifth CD in three years, it follows the internationally acclaimed “Of The Essence" (Spice Rack Records 2008), "The Masters Return!" (CAP 2007) "Curtain Of Life" (Spice Rack 2007) and "Across TheTracks" on (CAP 2006).

October 2009 – Christian Fabian, bassist with the Lionel Hampton Big Band for 12 years, announces the release of his new CD featuring an All Star lineup:
Don Friedman, piano
Willard Dyson, drums
Special guest appearances by:
Ada Rovatti, tenor and alto saxophone
Cleave Guyton, alto saxophone and flute
Elliot Manson, trombone
Brad Mason, trumpet and fluegelhorn

An exciting mix of original composition and standard songs, it features arrangements for 4 horns by composer Christian Fabian.

From Don Friedman:
"Christian and I became friends when we both did some gigs with the great Lionel Hampton. I was glad that Christian asked me to take part in this project. Most of the music here is composed and arranged by Christian, and his talent shines through in both areas, not to mention his bass playing”

Watch for this fabulous CD in October on CAP (Consolidated Artist Records), one of America's leading, up and coming independent record labels for contemporary jazz and bebop music.

"I can hear Christian's optimistic, jovial, caring and fun loving personality shining through in the music…being Christian's band mate in the Lionel Hampton Orchestra for just over ten years, I can testify that this talented bassist has learned one of "Hamp's" most important lessons, and that is, no matter how much skill you attain, don't forget to have fun with the music! Christian lets his light shine with skill and joy." — Lance Bryant
