Album Notes
Songs from the movie RADIO AMERICA; a story about two musician/farm boys in the late 90's who get a taste of rock star success and how that changed them. The album opens with their mainstream hit RADIO AMERICA - the song they write because their record label demands a song that can be played on the radio. SAY IT WITH STYLE is a fun flat pickin' number that starts their journey as they enter a battle of the bands competition. Meanwhile, a popular local band competes with a heavy metal blues crowd favorite: BAD CONNECTION. RISKY BUSINESS paints their wild and morally ambiguous ascent to fame with distorted syncopation and clever lyrics. In complete contrast, JANE is an acoustic guitar ballad that grapples with love lost. HEROES and WHERE DO HEROES GO FROM HERE? are contrasting pieces that play on opposing sides of the pinnacle of their success. Earlier in the story, the main theme to WHO'S TO DIE? is subtly introduced, but it's here that it becomes a therapeutic purging of grief and anger in the studio. Like echoes from the great beyond, IF I LOVED YOU is an ethereal song idea that derails an impulsive decision and gently corrects the course of fate. Finally, the story closes with the piano ballad of forgiveness and healing called BROKEN WINGS.
