ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Christopher Sloan is a progressive-acoustic singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose artful songs combine acoustic and electric instrumentation; guitars mandolins, and piano with great attention to lyric writing, as that expresses the many layers of life experience. His classical and jazz roots in percussion at an early age gives birth to songs that are often underpinned by percussive sounds and energy. The songs move with thoughtful and mature melodies and present a variety of color and tonal depth.
The opening track, "Meet Me," opens with, “Meet me in the middle of a three ring circus on a high trapeze,” a high energy invitation to all listeners to dig in to both the musical experience of the song, and to climbing towards greater possibilities, in a world that is often chaotic, but full of hope. The language of the music is one of light, movement, and reflection upon the natural world, as that engages people in a heartfelt way.
Track two, "Diamond," builds a dream-like tapestry of beautiful metaphors about purity and resolution over a strong basis of piano and alternately tuned guitar under haunting vocal harmonies. Diamond exhibits a great range of musical dynamics and composition, as well as lyrical depth, revealing the complexity of the human condition and human heart.
"Stained Glass Life," the title track, builds from the initial acoustic lines into a powerful chorus of affirmation about the light inside of every person, carried by vintage electric guitar, vocal harmony, drums, and tambourine reminiscent of The Byrds.
"Noah's Dream," a quick and rolling traditional mandolin instrumental, evokes the simple joy of watching a sleeping pet running in their sleep, playful and full of bounce.
"Dragonfly," is a beautiful, flowing, guitar song in the Travis picking style that rolls along smoothly, much like the river that plays a large part in the song, with the lovely cello and mandolin accompaniment evoking and giving voice to both the water imagery and that of the dragonfly flying over it, free and ever-changing.
The music of "Stained Glass Life" is highly recommended to anybody who enjoys acoustic based music and sounds mixed with electricity and percussion, with a variety of tempo, and outstanding lyric imagery.
