Album Notes
"Gathering The Ghosts," the new CD from Christopher Sloan, including Stained Glass Life in high energy, blue grass bounce mode, and an extended recording of Noah's Dream, a high energy instrumental on the mandolin. Guest performances from several West Michigan artists bolster a strong dozen songs, showcasing multi-instrumental arrangements with mandolin and keys, and a move towards incorporating bowed strings with those percussive picking and rhythms.
The lush guitars and harmonies on Crown Ophelia, violin and cello quartet of Crows, and powerful grand piano and cello duet of Two Parts lend a rich diversity to this wonderful recording!
Christopher Sloan writes music encompassing the many layers of life. A multi-instrumentalist composing on acoustic and electric guitars, mandolin, and keys, Chris carries on a continuation and validation of melody and harmony in this music and in his compositions. He has increasingly succeeded in finding new musical and tonal landscapes for the vehicle of his lyric poetry, within alternate tunings and voicings, in the realm of acoustic and electric string instruments of all kinds.
