Righteous Dub

by Chuck Foster

Heavy roots dubs in the Jamaican tradition recorded at Rough Sounds Redondo Beach with a stellar line-up of players. Bass and drum predominate with horns, guitars, keyboards and snatches of vocal swathed in echo and reverb. Dubs up the cd Easy Street.

Album Notes
Produced by Chuck Foster, who penned the Reggae Update column for Beat Magazine from 1987-2007 and hosts Reggae Central on KPFK in LA, Righteous Dub is his second dub release (the first was Conscious Dub, also issued on the Catch Me Time Label. Players include Mike Irwin on bass, Mystery Man, Stevie Veerhault of Detour Posse and Tony Chin from Big Mountain, Soul Syndicate and The Aggrovators on guitar, Horseman on drums, Tony Bird and Zacky Bernard of the Twinkle Brothers on keys, Tpdd Johnson of Arise Roots on trumpet and Lai Hee on percussion. The dubs are heavy and hard, with all instruments played in real time. Although the music is draws on the sound of the seventies it has a contemporary feel. The dubs are drawn from original tracks recorded for Chuck Foster's Easy Street release. Go deh!
