ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
We get attached to things. A time, a place, an idea... the world may change around us, but we’ve found our niche and we hang on to it... call it a groove or a rut, it defines us, and there we stay. We drink our favorite beer, drive the best car they make, watch our team play on Sunday, and know that our kids are smarter and our world-view better-informed than the guy across the street.

Of particular interest in this election year, are “All Figured Out”, which might be best described as a political lullabye, and “Partisan Polka”, a mad mazurka of pride and prejudice: as the chorus keeps saying: \"If you ain\'t one of us, you must be one of them\".

\"Creatures\" includes an antidote for the annual holiday madness in “Holidaze” for those who may feel that humbug is the word of the day.

Even McCabe\'s prayers are tinged with irony, and this collection closes with “My Prayer for You”. For a cynic, he prays with a lot of conviction, although he’s clearly hoping the angels have a sense of humor.

Chuck McCabe has consistenly produced top quality recordings, and his CD, "Creatures of Habit" is one of my favorites for 2008.  Chuck has a habit of writing and performing funny, clever, melodic, entertaining songs that belong on folk radio.

G'day Chuck.

Just to let you know that I've been listening to your CD with great pleasure.  The lyrics are intelligent and literate and your sense of humour really strikes a chord with me. Your thoughts on modern life are right on the button, too - you certainly help explain "all the troubles of a world that's gone insane".

I think my favourite song at the moment is "My Prayer For You" - there have been quite a few with a similar theme but they tend to be a bit sloppy and sentimental for my taste.  Yours is full of whimsical wisdom and really appeals. And what a terrific bunch of musicians you've got together!

So - thanks again for letting me have your CD - I'll be adding it to my playlist and featuring it over the next few weeks.

Creatures of Habit
I love this CD! I originally bought it because I went to high school in Redding and had heard the tune "I'd Rather Be in Redding," which brought tears to my eyes. However, when I listened to the CD, I realized that Chuck McCabe has a lot more going for him. "The Contractor" fit my sons-in-law perfectly. "Holidaze," "Meats In A Can," and "Partisan Polka" are really funny. Chuck really has a way with words and music. It was an added bonus to have all the words to the lyrics on this CD included. Buy it, you'll like it!
