Album Notes
The 2nd offering from Southern California’s Killerest Surf Band.
‘For Those About to Surf’ CHUM is back with a new line-up, and a new energy! If you liked CHUM’s first album ‘The Dewey Decibel System’ then you are going to love ‘For Those About To Surf’!!!
CHUM has added bass player Willy B (who, incidentally was CHUM’s #1 choice as a bass player, but because of prior commitments could not join CHUM on their first album.) And with the addition of Willy B churns out a more fierce, brooding, dark, energetic sound.
‘For Those About To Surf’ has a lot of influence on it. There are more dynamic arrangements, and although some of the tunes are slower in tempo, they are still quite intense. Phil Dirt of Reverb Central says about ‘For Those About to Surf’ “Heavy, brooding, and sometimes delicate tracks with a dark vision of the dangers of the deep. They continue to reside in their own corner of the surf world, seldom compromising their sound for mere acceptance. This is a strong CD.”
The line-up on ‘For Those About To Surf is Roger Merritt on guitar, Willy B on bass, Adrien Anthony on drums, and ukulele, with guest appearances by Rick Wilkinson on keyboards, Bill McGlynn on ukulele, and Favis Fuentes on vocal stylings.
CHUM continues to support keeping our oceans clean.
Aloha & Mahalo.
