Album Notes
'The Road' is a 12 song music CD rooted in the genre of bluegrass music ... which was inspired by Appalachian living using the acoustic instrumentation of guitar, mandolin, banjo, dobro, fiddle and upright bass.

The CD presents nine originals written by Cindy with three cover songs ... most notably, the Bobbie Gentry hit of the 1960's "Ode To Billy Joe", which receives rave reviews from audience members when performed live. Cindy gives a stellar vocal performance on an old-style, foot tapping version of "Key To The Kingdom" ... and backed only by the simplicity of dobro and guitar, she does a superlative rendition of the traditional "Wayfaring Stranger". Her vocals soar in this song, making it one of the most unparalleled cuts on the CD.

Cindy's originals run the gamut from true traditional in flavor, like "Poor Girl", "You Belong To Me" and the high-energy instrumental "Humphrey's Wheel" ... to a "twist" on the traditional bluegrass genre with an out-of-the-box writing approach, incorporating not only catchy lyrics and chord progressions, but unique vocal and break stylings as well. The CD opener "Heartache, Let Me Be" captures all of the above ... as well as "The Distance" and the CD favorite "Jenny & Jesse" in one red-hot, moving story song. "Pennsylvania Hold" is an appealing, medium tempo piece about lost love with a catchy melody, complimented by strong vocal harmonies. Another winner for storytelling is "444 Chicken Bone Road" ... which some consider the best song on the CD ... about a young woman befriended by an older woman and how their lives intertwine. The title cut "The Road", starts off acappella, showcasing true bluegrass vocal harmonies, and gracefully enters into a moving spiritual narrative.

No matter what kind of music you like ... bluegrass or not ... there's bound to be something on "The Road" that captures and holds your attention!
