Album Notes
"SHARKS - The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack," described as "stirring" by Box Office Magazine, is the second powerful original score written by noted European composer Christophe Jacquelin specifically for the network of IMAX screens. Jacquelin's first composition for an IMAX theatre film was for the popular "OCEAN WONDERLAND" (2003), seen by over 5 million viewers to date. The SHARKS album is the culmination of Jacquelin's talents and passion for the underwater world and conservation, an interest he shares with the film’s director, Jean-Jacques Mantello. Thanks to their very close collaboration, Jacquelin was able to compose the original motion picture soundtrack based on images, an unusual achievement in the film industry. Editing on the film began only once the score was completed, resulting in a perfect symbiosis of sound and image. The SHARKS soundtrack includes the film’s haunting theme song, "Still Be Blue" (track n°15), sung by Dajzia Satour with lyrics by Claudia Phillips. Strings and woods were performed by the Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra led by Patrice Souillot. In addition to his work as a composer, Jacquelin is also a renowned sound designer and sound arranger. He has extensive experience in composing, arranging and mixing original music for documentaries, animated and corporate films, commercials, games, and interactive media.

About the film SHARKS

SHARKS is a 3D Entertainment Ltd. and McKinney Underwater production and is presented by ocean explorer Jean-Michel Cousteau in association with the United Nations Environment Programme. It was originally released in Spring 2005 at IMAX theatres across the USA before moving on to its international release. The film was described by the Chicago Tribune as "the impressive work of director Jean-Jacques Mantello and a crew of daredevil underwater cinematographers led by Gavin McKinney." SHARKS depicts these animals as they actually are in their natural environment: wild, fascinating and highly endangered. As the most advanced predators on earth, which began roaming the waters millions of years before the appearance of the dinosaurs, they are essential to the survival of our oceans; the final element in the marine food chain, they maintain the complex webs of life below them. SHARKS was filmed between October 2003 and June 2004 in Mexico, South Africa, French Polynesia, Mozambique, Egypt and the USA, and required three years of production.

Great Sound Track.
Christophe Jacquelin does a fantastic job on this sound track. Keep up the good work!

Enchanting Music!
I am very rarely impressed with scores from any movie. This soundtrack has great instrumentals and couldn't be any better for the film. I could listen to the soothing sounds anytime.

very beautiful and moving music
I saw the imax movie Sharks a few months back, and throughout the film I couldn't help but notice how beautiful and inspiring the music was. It mixes several genres of music together resulting in a blend from new age, to world, to trance. I knew I had to find the soundtrack, which led me here to I would recommend this cd to anyone who is a lover of great music!

very beautiful, very clever and makes the ocean beautiful.
Very brilliantly composed, awsome piece of music that all people should enjoy. sets a tone and takes you on a ride. very nice i recommend this to all cd baby listeners.

I\'m really impressed!
I heard this music when I was in the cinema in Barcelona’s 3DMAX, watching movie “sharks” . Movie was good, but mostly I was impressed by music I was hearing . I decided to find the CD with this soundtracks by all means when I would come back from my Spanish holiday to Russia. Especially I like the tr.11. I would recommended to by this CD to all people who like excellent quality of sound, unusual music witch could bring you to nice dreams and thinks. You can have your rest on the sofa with closed eyes, walking around the city with mp3 player or drive the car, you will enjoy this music for sure! Big thanks to CD baby witch afforded me an opportunity to buy this soundtrack!

Excellent score; gives a feeling of excitement
I watched the IMAX movie "Sharks", and was impressed by the movie. This was partly due to the movie itself, but the music that came with the movie most definately added to the overall impression. I never heard of Christophe Jacquelin before, but just having watched the movie was enough inspiration to buy this CD. In particular, the celli in the theme song "Sharks" are worth listening.

It is hard for me to judge this CD as a standalone product -- the music clearly inhabit a feeling of both tranquility as well as excitement at the same time. Just as you might expect from a soundtrack of a nature documentary. It worth noting that the score gives a feeling of calmness and wonder, as oposed to a feeling of suspense. This is in line with the documentary, which also did not feature a "thriller-esque" portrait of sharks.

I recommend that you listen to the few sample tracks and decide for yourself.

Wonderful CD. More than I hoped for.
I recently saw the movie and fell in love with the cd. I highly recommend it. Moving and works well as a backdrop for the movie.

AWESOME music that truly reflects the human feeling towards the sea.
This CD will be one of my precious CD's collection, although the demo's in this site won't show you the real beauty of the music, but believe me, you won't regret having your own copy. When I first got the CD, I listened to it around 3 times in one night. If you have the passion for music, get your own copy now :)
