Album Notes
Forget what you know about storytelling. There is no sitting still or reading quietly on this CD. Clare's stories inhabit the stage, her characters dance around the audience. No stoic princesses or kindly princes to be found here; these tales are peopled by women pirates, wild warriors, scathing storytellers and demonic fairies. A dynamic and engaging collection of tales told at Jonesborough International Storytelling Festival. These are not bedtime stories as you remember them!

Dublin born Storyteller Clare Muireann Murphy is an international performance artist now based in London. She has performed in over 20 countries. Clare is known for her dynamic physical style and wit.

The Magic of Clare Muireann Murphy
I was about to start by saying that this was Clare at her best when it occurred to me that I have never heard Clare not at her best. She is an utterly engaging storyteller who carries us effortlessly along and enchants us constantly. No recording can match the real thing, of course, but it gets as close as it can. This is storytelling that comes from somewhere so deep, so fundamental, that it takes our breath away. Let nobody imagine that this is "performance". Every telling comes across as spontaneously as if she had never told it before and is therefore unique. I am not normally inclined to buy storytelling on CD since I feel it never captures the true magic of a live telling, but this has to be an exception. I heartily recommend this CD if only because to permits me to carry Clare with me wherever I go, a liberty which could not otherwise be permitted.

Sheer dynamism and charisma
What a powerful storyteller, and such humour. I was enthralled from beginning to end, my inner child is in a state of delight and my ancestors voices are echoing down the hall!

Clare tells stories! Clare tells stories!
Since stuffing Clare into a bag and claiming her as my very own full-time personal storyteller would inevitably break a few international laws, I had to resort to buying her CD instead. It is a small compensation though that the CD is indeed fabulous. She did bring out the big guns for Jonesborough, and she took over the scene by a landslide. Um, metafor conflict. Never mind me. My point is: this is awesome, and you should buy it. NOW! It is delivered by e-Gnomes. Life does not get better than this. Seriously.

Raw mythology gently force-fed straight into your soul!
Clare Muireann Murphy is one of the great stars on the international storytelling stage, and she has done the difficult deed of capturing the magic of her performance in downloadable format. The live recording is great and while as Clare takes hold of your gut and throws you into the wondrous world of Irish mythology you can also feel the gentle grace she uses to make the audience love her. It is awesome performance art feeding raw mythology into your soul straight through your headphones. Buy it now!

A different place...
There's a place that you might remember from when you were small. It's that lovely place that exists somewhere between the borders of brilliant and magical. There are some people in the world who can take you there. All you have to do is listen...

The Brilliant Work of Clare Murphy
I bought the CD after seeing Clare perform at Stage Left Cafe in Woodstock, IL ... she did a brilliant job and I wanted to share these stories with my family. I would recommend this CD as the perfect gift for everyone no matter how old. -Ruth Ruhnke
