Album Notes
Dream of a Good Death is a collection of original songs exploring deeply personal stories of the Civil War, composed and performed by Roots singer/songwriter Clark Hansbarger.

Joined by a group of veteran Americana musicians --- including Allen Kitselman, Mike Jewell and Gary McGraw of The Bitter Liberals, Joe Faber, John Friant, Kara Hansbarger, and slide master Rob Remington of The Bastards of Twang ---Clark and friends have picked up where The Band left off, creating a cycle of songs as textured and memorable as "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down."

A contemporary folk opera, Dream of a Good Death, follows the trials, hopes, fears and sacrifices of Confederate soldiers as they struggle through the Union conquest of Port Royal, the fires in The Wilderness, the killing fields of Gettysburg and Cold Harbor, and the long sieges of Vicksburg and Petersburg.

Co-produced, engineered and mastered by Will Shenk of National Media Services in Front Royal, VA, Clark Hansbarger's first solo cd rings true with a clarity of musicianship and storytelling that will put it in the playlists of Americana fans worldwide.

Truly fine listening...whether you are a history buff or not.
