Album Notes

Vibrant, energetic, dynamic and gifted all describe one of the most powerful and sought after preachers of the last two decades. And where God leads, his servant always follows. Armed with anointed lyrics and a distinctive sound, God has also placed the gift of music ministry inside of the incredibly talented artist, Dr. Claybon Lea Jr.

He is known across the United States as well as England, Germany, Bermuda, Bahamas, Ghana and Nigeria as a preaching powerhouse. Dr. Claybon Lea Jr. is the Senior Pastor of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Fairfield and Suisun City California. Under his dynamic leadership, Mount Calvary has been listed in Outreach Magazine as one of America's 100 fastest growing churches. The church now offers five worship experiences every Sunday which are streamed via internet around the world. He preaches all five worship services each week. In addition, he is an unremitting student who has distinguished himself academically.

He is a graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religion. He was a member of the world famous Morehouse College Glee Club, under the direction of the late Dr. Wendell P. Whalum and then Dr. David E. Morrow. In addition, he was the pianist for the Morehouse College Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Mr. Roderick Smith. He also served on the music and ministerial staff of Bishop James H. Morton.

He received his Master of Divinity Degree from Union Theological Seminary in New York City, where he organized and directed the Union Gospel Choir. During that time, he served as Baptist Campus Minister and keyboardist for the Columbia University Gospel Choir. Under the musical direction of the late Wesley Naylor, he was a keyboard 2 musician in Vy Higginson's stage play Mama I Want To Sing. In addition, he served under the late Dr. William Augustus Jones, as the Youth Pastor, adult musician and lead youth musician for the Bethany Baptist Church of Brooklyn. Under his leadership, along with Rev. Willie Heard, the Bethany Youth Chorale went to New York's Carnigie Hall as finalists in the McDonald's Gospel Superfest.

He also earned his Doctor of Ministry Degree from the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH. He is presently pursuing additional doctoral studies in Biblical Studies. Dr. Lea is a published author of the most impactful book Lessons from a Dying Savior in which he shows how Jesus teaches others to live as he is dying on the cross. He has also been published as a contributor to the best-selling book Sound The Trumpet Again! (Judson Press), Oxford Sermons II, and the African American Pulpit.

In addition to sharing his musical gifts as a song writer and keyboardist, Dr. Lea's voice captivates your attention with a perfect blend of silky smooth and raspy robust baritone sound while delivering lyrics that invite you into worship.
