NAMMY (Native American Music Awards) and ISMA (Indian Summer Music Awards) nominated Clear water Drum continues their ground-breaking explorations of high energy danceable (just try to keep still!) Native/Folk combination with their latest CD, Anidohi (The Messenger). Staying true to their roots singing on the drum at powwows, the big drum beat anchors every song. Layered over the driving beat of the drum and the shakers are mandolin, guitar, bass, requinto, banjo, strumstick, mandola and Irish bouzouki.

If you haven't heard their music before, then you haven't heard music like this. But Clear Water's music is more than a high energy celebration of dance and joy -- it carries a deep spiritual message. This is what they've written on their liner notes:

"For hundreds of years prophecies & legends have foretold of the arrival of strangers from across the Salty Waters. The changes they brought forever changed the Circle of Life. One of the major changes is the need to mend & heal our land.

"A messenger (Anidohi) can come in many forms. Since the beginning of time The Great Mystery has used creation to teach & give us messages.

"The People need to heal the family. The family needs to heal the community. The community needs to heal the nation. The nation needs to heal the world.

"Grandmother used to say, 'Listen, or your tongue will make you deaf.' We need to listen to receive knowledge. We need to pray to use the knowledge wisely."
