Album Notes
Eddie Horst, (www.eddiehorstmusic.com), Emmy Award winning composer and arranger for Faith Hill, Bruce Springsteen and others says: 'Arrows From a Warrior's Quiver' is a well-written collection of 14 songs mostly in a country vein but also with traditional and folk overtones. From the title track: "Arrows From a Warrior's Quiver/ Speeding on thru time/ May your flight be a long and true one/ May your aim be high", to 'Sleepy Town: "Sleepy Town/ Day comes early/ Robs us of our dreams/ But the memory lingers on", these are songs that anyone will enjoy. Thoughtful and memorable.

SWIFT REVEIWS says: "Clint has been writing songs for years and with the help of his son, Craig, he has created a wonderful collection of country/folk songs for the whole family. With an insight into life and the ability to express himself through song, he has captured true emotions in the style of Gordon Lightfoot, Jimmy Buffet, and Peter, Paul and Mary.
'From the Sands of Iwo Jima to the Cliffs of Normandy' is an epic tale and a similar listen to Gordon Lightfoot’s 'Legend of the Edmund Fitzgerald'. Lawrence’s songs are definitely heartfelt and well written. His style is one that will be very familiar to all who delve into folk music and remember the great country folk legends."

The songs on this album were written by me over many years; Hopefully, my songs have aged better than I have! I recorded the vocals with acoustic guitar in Atlanta over ten years ago, then resumed and completed the project this past year, mainly in Austin, with the encouragement and assistance of my son, Craig. Here is a summary of the 14 tracks: ARROWS FROM A WARRIOR’S QUIVER, the title track derives from Psalm 127: “Behold, Children are a Gift of the LORD, the Fruit of the Womb is a Reward. Like Arrows in the Hand of a Warrior, So are the Children of One’s Youth. How Blessed is the Man whose Quiver is full of them.” BITTERSWEET ARE THE MEMORIES- describes the realities of long distance parenting after divorce. FROM THE SANDS OF IWO JIMA TO THE CLIFFS OF NORMANDY- written in honor of my late father, a WW II US Marine who served in the Pacific and his generation. I recently stood above the Cliffs of Normandy where so many sacrificed their young lives and played this song. Two of the photographs from that location are on the album cover. ELLIS ISLAND- my first visit moved me to write these words. As we are a nation of immigrants, everyone should visit. THE OLD MAN BY THE HARBOR - I saw him “pushing a cart full of rags” at the San Francisco wharf and the song sprang to life. GRAVY TRAIN- any man ever divorced will relate to “Don’t go Hookin’ your Caboose to my Gravy Train!” MONTANA BROWN EYED GIRL– skipped out on a meeting in Big Sky and spent the day at the Firehole River in Yellowstone Park with a Brown Eyed lady friend, who pointed out I had not done so well we blue or green eyed types. PRIMA DONNA –semi-true story of a woman I dated; Man, can I pick ‘em! LAY ME DOWN IN LONDON – everyone should have one holiday romance! COLD WINDS OF DESPERATION - dedicated to my late friend, Townes Van Zandt, tortured soul that he was, and all who have ever suffered from depression. BAKIN’ A CAKE - Lord, help we men if “Bakin’ a Cake for the Man I Hate/Wishin’ that it Could be Poison”, ever catches on! SLEEPY TOWN - love and the morning after. HURRY UP SUN UP - a “I’m a ramblin man and I’m leavin’ you” song. THE “NIGHT NIGHT” SONG - is a lullaby for my children, with a new verse added as they each arrived over a 14 year period.
