Album Notes
Left Banke, Zombies, Beach Boys, Beatles, America, Elliot Smith are good reference points for the second album from Cloud Eleven. This one's a little more melancholy than the first album, but still has a groovy west coast psychedelic vibe. The songwriting and production values show a lot of growth on this one. If you like psych-pop with a sixties flare, you'll love this one.

AMG REVIEW: Rick Gallego appears to know West Coast psychedelia and soft pop like the proverbial back of his hand, and anyone who wants proof should give a listen to Orange and Green and Yellow and Near, the second album from the group Cloud Eleven. Gallego is the guiding light behind Cloud Eleven - he not only writes the songs and sings lead, he plays all the instruments (besides the drums and a few stray horn and mandolin overdubs) and produces their sessions. From the sound of this music, Gallego has a serious jones for Pet Sounds/Smile-era Brian Wilson, an abiding fondness for Love, a more-than-passing infatuation for the Left Banke and the Association, and listens to Shoes when he wants to get modern. Gallego does quite well by his influences, and has assimilated them into a style that's light, tuneful, and with a pleasingly trippy undertow that lifts the songs up rather than dragging them down. As craft, Orange and Green and Yellow and Near is just about flawless; Pop obsessives will enjoy this album. - Mark Deming

Trippin' back to the Sixties
Beautiful harmonies and a reminder of what real music sounds like. This album reflects the influence of the Sixties: in Rocket Chair: We're all / cruisin' along / Music up loud / Gettin' stoned...seems refreshingly innocent in today's world. Trippy, dreamy popadelic pop at its best.

Desert Island disc
10 years on, "orange and green and yellow and near" still sounds as fresh as the day I first heard it. Rick Gallego is a pop genious. Never ceases to lift my spirits on a dreary day. If you don't like this CD, you might be deaf.

absolute beauty!
i love this disc!! i purchased this not quite a year ago and just listened to it again yesterday! any fan of Beach Boys, Left Banke, FOW, Einstein's Sister, Matthew Sweet, Velvet Crush, and/or Pernice Brothers...don't wait a minute longer to pick up this masterpiece!!

Late 60's, Early 70's Revisited!
This CD is a trip down memory lane, but it's like the great lost hits from 1968 through 1971! I just loved the first CD by CLOUD ELEVEN and this one is just about as good! It's a crime that this band or Rick Gallego didn't get more publicity because this is fantastic power pop, psychedelic rock, and sunshine pop all mixed into one great mix of a CD!! Like all the other reviewers mentioned, there's an influence of all the great rock bands of the late sixties. The Beach Boys, Beatles, Association, and many others. "Later" is one of the best songs I've heard in recent years. I heavily recommend this album if you like pop music from the late 60's!!

If you like the best pop songs ... buy this CD
5 stars is too short for this CD. One masterpiese from start to the end. 12 songs = 12 pop gems. Don´t miss.

Rarified Air
If you ask me, this album belongs in the very elite -- one of the great pop albums of all time. I'm really going to have to revisit my desert island list to see what I can bump to make room for it. It's got the melodic freshness of The Beach Boys Sunflower, and a mesmerising psychedelic quality not unlike The Dukes of Stratosphear.

I would recommend cry babyto all buyers. This company is fast, efficient, and the CD I received was well packaged. Bravo Cry Baby!

A sweet psychadelic pop album that draws you back to an innocent time of lazy summer days when real music still dominated the radio. Definitely a 5 star album.

Fans of Umajets will dig this
"Rain Came Down" is a tremendous tune. If you enjoy the music of Umajets, you will probably be partial to this disc.
