ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Terrestrial Ballet is a collection of outtakes, tribute songs and demos that spans the entire Jiffipop/Cloud Eleven epoch. Some of these songs were on compilations and tribute albums over the years, but now they're all in one place, plus a lot of other tunes! None of these songs ever appeared on any of the proper USA released Jiffipop/Cloud Eleven albums...they're all exclusive to this release. It's 23 songs in all, so it's like getting two albums worth of music on one little disc! Enjoy.

HERE'S A RECENT REVIEW THAT APPEARED IN AMPLIFIER MAGAZINE:

As far as winsome, winning psych-pop goes, you can't do much better than Rick Gallego and Cloud Eleven. The 23-track Terrestrial Ballet is a collection of tribute album offerings, previously unreleased goodies, demos and other rarities, all wrapped in a soft, pleasant, acid-dipped gauze. Muscular pop rock ("Serendipic Wheel," "Apricot Ash"), '67 Beach Boys-cum-Tommy James fare ("Clover"), sprightly singer-songwriter acoustic stuff ("Waiting There Without You"), sitar-laced moodiness ("Glistening"), Shoes-like power pop ("It Does"), synthed-out grooviness ("Tuesday Letter"), Beatled-up cheeriness ("The One"), covers of Shoes, Teenage Fanclub and The Who---it's all here and it's all flat out wonderful, graceful and often poetic. As good as Cloud Eleven's albums proper are, this one's even better, and I'm not sure I'm prepared to say exactly why that is; perhaps it's due to the sheer variety of styles on display (as well as Gallego's ample songwriting skills). One of the lyrics from Gallego's homage to his musical heroes, "Sound on Sound," goes a long way towards describing Terrestrial Ballet : "Every move that you make sends me reeling when I hear that sound on sound." Believe it.

Psyche-pop Masterpiece!
Gotta chime in regarding the most excellent Cloud 11 offering "Terrestrial Ballet". Sometimes jangly, sometimes dissonant, always melodic, Rick Gallego once again delivers the goods, this time consisting of no less than 23 psyche-pop gems. Tracking Rick's progress from his early days as Jiffipop, right on through to last year's "Orange and Green and Yellow and Near" outtakes, "Terrestrial Ballet" clearly illustrates Rick's decade-long growth as a songwriter, melodic craftsman and cover artist extraordinare. Great artwork (painted by Rick, himself), detailed song-by-song notes by Rick, liner notes by Auditeer Bryan Thomas, and of course, that VOICE (Gallego is, feets up, one of my all-time favorite pop vocalists -- pure, sweet, pitch-perfect, almost hallucinatory at times), "Terrestrial Ballet" is guaranteed to sugar-coat your world and leave you laughing -- wildly -- in sagebrush. As Bruce Brodeen would say, "Extremely highly recommended!". Available at NotLame, Jam Records and CD Baby.
