Great Grooves
Lancaster belts it out with personality and power. Great grooves from an extra-tight rhythm section.

Jeff Isaac: The Sovereign Of Soul
Recently, I was suprised to learn that one of my favorite professors from undergrad days back around 1992-1993, Jeff Isaac, was giging as a jazz pianist with an act called Code Blue in Bloomington. Me and my fraternity brother/classmate used to jokingly refer to him as "The Sovereign" since this was also a commonly uttered term by him in his political science classes. How cool is it that The Sovereign also has some serious jazz piano chops? Just had to buy the CD. Hope to catch him and the guys live in Bloomington-- the CD is a great romp.

A great ensemble that offers both excellent original songrwriting and some really great covers. I love how this band makes "Spoonful" its own. Vocally strong and masterfully backed, with feel ranging from dirty gutbucket to soulful gospel (check out Cry, Cry, Cry). A fun listen all the way through.

Just a great CD
Code Blue are an excellent blues band, and great musicians, every one. If you ever get a chance to see them live, do it. If you like your blues to be entertaining, with a little bit of jazz and soul thrown in, this CD is for you. The musicianship is expert, and Bobbie's vocals are superb, soulful, and a little sassy. Mike Moody's vocals on "Keeping the Blues Company" are a special treat, also; it's unusual to find a drummer who sings so well. Real good blend of covers and originals on this one. Well done!

Bobbie lays it out there!
I am ready and willing to leave my family for Bobbie Livingston. And, guitarist Dave Baas lights it up.

Of course, I'm the One-Eyed Fan!
