Bio on Female Artist who sings the inspirational and inspiring song SOFTLY DOWN

Colene Walters caught the performing bug at an early age, being the youngest of six children growing up in Detroit Michigan. As a teen she began performing with bands in the area and became a finalist in the Detroit Auditions of "Star Search"These early exposures of performing prompted her to move to Nashville in 1990. Not long after arriving she caught the ear of Legendary Performer Porter Wagoner of The Grand Ole Opry. She was hired to replace Dolly Parton as Porter's new duet partner to perform the hit songs of their remarkable career. In time she became a featured soloist at the Grand Ole Opry. Colene is currently working on a new album with CMG Nashville and travels the country performing her own country music as well as personal favorites. She also performs a Patsy Cline Tribute Show. Colene has appeared on the following Nashville Network Shows-Crook & Chase-Music City Tonight-Waylon & Friends-Grand Ole Opry Live. Colene is not only a fantastic singer, but also wonderful and engaging entertainer!
On her current tour, she tells the story of growing up in Detroit "The Motor City" and moving to Nashville "The Music City" every song has a connection to her life and the legendary artists she has worked with. Colene now makes her home in New England

Biography of the songwriter

Peter Prince was raised in Washington Heights in Upper Manhattan. His involvement in music began in the '60's with the "folk boom", being influenced by artists such as Bob Dylan, Peter Paul and Mary, Judy Collins, the Kingston Trio. He sang professionally with folk groups in many of the local bars as well as coffee houses in Greenwich Village while attending Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey. Peter began songwriting in the late 60's, early 1970's, and his style of music is reflective of those times, folk, country & country rock. His songs have been used on both network(NBC) and cable tv (E Network, FOX & MSG Sports Networks), as well as, played on various AM and FM radio stations around the country. Peter's love of professional sports and fishing has also proven to be a source of his material. His sports songs have been played in large venues such as Madison Square Garden and Shea Stadium. "The "Fish'n Game Talkin' Blues", available for use on Music is a humorous tale of fishing and having to deal with those "game wardens from the state." The song,"Softly Down" was inspired by the famous plane event known as "The Miracle On The Hudson" and is an honoring of the heroism of Captain "Sully" Sullenberger, who landed Flight 1549 in the Hudson River, January 15, 2009, saving all 155 lives onboard. A YOUTUBE video(Google: Softly Down-Colene Walters) enhances the power of the song. Any feature film, tv movie or documentary on this event makes "Softly Down" a perfect fit. Also available for placement in film or tv is "Busted Dreams" which is about the struggle to make it as a singer/songwriter. What keeps the performer from giving up, with all the rejection and "close calls" of big success, is the music itself. It is the story of what most of us in the business of songwriting must endure on the road to our dreams.

Softly Down

When I think of you
Makes my heart fill up with pride
Calmness of your voice
Makes me feel strong inside
Courageous deeds you’ve done
(Ya) Keep my faith in man alive, alive

You make me want to fly
Make me want to smile
I wanna soar above the clouds
Make me want to cry
Rain down tears of joy
Falling in your hands
Softly down
Falling softly down

They hailed your name
Showed us all what heroes do
You shared the praise
Selfish isn't part of you
A time for fame,
A time for staying true
Staying true

There's a part of me
That would like to be
What you are
What you are
