Colin Farish is a composer, pianist, and producer fluent in many diverse musical languages. Through his numerous musical projects, Farish has repeatedly demonstrated his prodigious and prolific talent over the last twenty-five years. From award winning documentary films (Gifts of Grief, Bringing Creation Back Together, The Salt Song Trail), dance performances (Ocean), compositions for both small and large ensembles (Chanticleer, Worn Chamber, SoVoSo), orchestral and symphonic commissions (Aga Khan’s North American Celebration), jazz trio, quartet and solo piano and piano duet recordings (Grammy winners Paul McCandless, Airto Moreira, Glen Velez, David Darling, John Carlos Perea, Ustad Sulthan Khan, Throat Singers From Tuva, Grammy nominee Weber Iago), Farish works in multiple genres, formats, and styles. The wide scope of his influences are represented in his forty-album discography of original music; including three albums of jazz standards; three musicals; and over thirty produced albums of classical solo piano music. For fifteen years Colin owned and operated Stillwater Sound recording studios. For eight of years (1996-2004) his studio was located in the Presidio Chapel of San Francisco where he recorded numerous CDs and produced dozens of concert events. He is currently developing a television series that will feature well-known musicians in conversation and spontaneous music creation, filmed at George Lucas’s Skywalker Sound. Waking From The Roots, a 2012 Canyon Records release, featured his chamber music compositions with Grammy winners John Carlos Perea and the vocal group Chanticleer. In 2013, Mr. Farish released several albums of original music including a piano duet Watercourse Fantasy with Weber Iago, and Catching Air and Whirlwind’s Heart, compositions for solo piano. In the spring of 2014, he released a recording of his solo piano performing the music of George Gershwin.
