Album Notes
"Carry the Dream," Richard Colombo's new CD, features 12 original songs for acoustic guitar.

The music reflects the beauty of nature and captures a passion for life, love and the soulful connection with family and friends.

The CD takes you on a musical journey from soothing reflective melodies to upbeat driving rhythms.

Richard began his career in the late 1970's performing solo in clubs in the San Francisco Bay area.

He later formed a duo with Miche Evans called "Richard and Miche." In 1982 Richard and Miche recorded and produced their debut album "Take a Chance" on Daphne Records.

The album consisting of all original music was a huge success in the Bay Area and the duo became mainstays in the local nightclub scene.

Richard moved to Portland, Oregon in 1985 and later enrolled in the Music Program at Portland State University where he earned a degree in classical guitar.

Returning to school as an adult and an accomplished musician gave Richard the confidence to push his own musical limits.

He continues to play and perform music rooted in the folk tradition but is equally comfortable with classical works.

Richard's compositions blend influences from Spanish to Celtic, New Age to Classical.

He currently performs and teaches guitar from his studio in Portland, Oregon.

"Carry the Dream" is the work of an inward looking, soulful person with a passion for life.

Richards music captures his individuality and openness.

Richard brings his whole being to the creation of this work.

Hope and promise come to life in the title song "Carry the Dream".

The passionate rhythms of "Alma del Baile" (Soul of the Dance), "Summer Memory" and "Costa del Sol" whisk you off to the sunny beaches of Spain and the Mediterranean.

"Queer Child" and "Home at Last" convey the struggles of growing up gay and the joy of building home and family with his life partner Jim.

Richard's love for his mom Jean and the pain of losing her give life to the two pieces "I Miss You" and "Song for Mom".

The tragic events of September 11th provoked the hopeful compositions "Song of Peace" and "Hope for Tomorrow".

"Winterlight" and "Rocky River Flow" capture the simple beauties of nature.

This music is meant to be savored and embraced.

Richard's melodies are rich and delightful with frequent surprises that are complex and breathtaking.

He plays with confidence and pride.

Carry the Dream will become a treasured addition to your collection.

Must have for Guitar music lovers
Very well recorded and sounds great on highend stereo systems. The engineer did a great job of balance, giving it a excellent sound stage. Also great relaxing guitar music to listen to. A must have for guitar music lovers

Strings From the Heart
I was touched by Richard's gift. This is more than beautiful composition and superior technique. I see the vulnerability, heart and true desire to inspire us all. I feel blessed after listening to this. I will share it with those I care deeply about.

"It puts the sooth on you!"
If you love acoustic guitar here's a record that draws the listener in and takes you away too - you might say it puts the sooth on you! It's rich with one clean tasty track after another. My favs are Costa del Sol and Carry the Dream but each cut stands on it's own as a wonderful creation in sound.
