ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Compilation One" is a collection of nineteen works, fifteen classical and four electronic. These pieces range from solo piano to chamber ensembles. Going beyond traditional practice, two contra basses explore percussive elements in “Dou-L” by slapping the strings, body, and the ribs of the instrument. This is also true in “Piano Percuss,” in which the piano performer taps on the music stand, pounds on the bench, and claps while playing the keys. The collection also includes an arrangement of a Scottish folk tune, “Loch Lomond,” Japanese folk song “Sakura” (Cherry Blossoms), and a Chinese folk song, “Dance of Youth.”
