Album Notes
Eric Congdon has been writing & performing his songs from California to Carolina for the last decade. But only now has Eric finally dedicated himself to putting together a CD, Green River, that features his best songs
out of the literally hundreds he has composed over the years. The 11 songs that make Green River range from groovy Alt Country efforts like "Country Air", to tender acoustic ballads like the CD¹s signature track "Green River".

Green River is a CD that will keep the listener engaged with it's diverse stylings, rich harmonies (Eric loves the Beach Boys) and tasty guitar licks. Eric plays in a wide variety of guitar styles, and almost all of them are on display here as he plays electric & acoustic guitar, dobro & mandolin in addition to handling the singing.

Eric has used a talented group of musicians to flesh out the arrangements on Green River, making it a rich, full sounding album with something new to hear each time you listen to it. From Harmonica to Hammond organs, Eric threw all of the sounds he heard in his head into the songs. It took some time to get it all together, but the end result is a sonic feast that belies it's humble origins.

Among Eric's primary influences are Neil Young, Jimmy Page, Johnny Cash, Muddy Waters, and Mark Knopfler. Although these days Eric mostly listens to ethnic music from India, Africa & the Middle East. According to Eric, "There is an honesty and unaffected quality to these artists who are unconstrained by Western ideas of what a song should be. It helps keep my ears fresh." In the end, all of these influences come together on Green River in a cohesive way to make Eric¹s refreshing sound.

Eric Congdon was brought up in two very different worlds. Half of his life was spent in New York where he was born, and the other half in North Carolina where he currently lives. Growing in up in these two different worlds has given Eric a broad perspective on life in the USA. From the big city hustle & flow to small town Americana, Eric uses these experiences to full effect in his personal songwriting.

Nicely produced indie
I really enjoyed this CD. Eric has a pretty good voice, and he backs himself up with lots of nice female multi part harmonies, esp. on Green River & Country Air. Really nice guitar work, slide, dobros, acoustic. Nicely done. The songs are all heartfelt and well produced. Thumbs up!
