ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
In 2015, Northwestern University published some music research. Using musical strategies to help lay a strong foundation for learning a language makes sense. From 1986 to the present, the creator of these musical poems has taught children according to this philosophy. Musical elements such as melody, rhythm, instrumentation, tone, and expression enhance any learning process. Especially, Not Your Grandma's Phonics represents the very best of how to learn a language quickly, naturally and in a context that motivates the English language learners to more formal instruction commonly used in classrooms across America.

It is common sense to sell these musical poems as an album rather than by separate tracks. With this purchase, children learn all of the 26 letter sounds that represent 44 sounds of the English language. Concepts such as the short and long vowel songs, Mr. Uggle's song, the Consonant Monster song, the Schwa song help children master the unusual combinations of letters that challenge the English language learner. Once children listen, see and sing the sounds, they have a much easier time extending the knowledge to more formal instruction learning how to spell, write and read the 44 sounds. Motivate children's learning by using the complete set of musical poems in the context of short, meaningful language that is fun and memorable!

Samples of this product are found at Connie Anderson's new website, www.grandmaloutunes.com Connie is Grandmalou. Grandmalou looks forward to sharing all of the visual aids on the new website because she knows how children learn. Listen, see, and sing the English language with a quality tool such as Not Your Grandma's Phonics!
