ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Conor O'Brien Biography

This is 3rd solo album from Conor O'Brien and it is by far his best work to date. This music is infectious and compelling and each story takes on a life of its own. Conor was born in St. Joseph, MO in 1969, to Irish Immigrant parents and learnt how to engage an audience at a very early age. Conor lives and writes music in Boston, Massachusetts which is the home base for his band Big Blue World.

Conor as recently recorded an album with Dave Gerard of the band Truffle and that project featured the legendary keyboardist Bill Paine of Little Feat and the Doobie Brothers. Conor is an exceptional songwriter and guitarist and studied music at the University of NH. He began to craft his songwriting while performing with his first professional groups during the early 90's. Conor performed throughout New England with Allegory Stew a folk and blues duo and was the front-man of "Hemlock" an original funk rock band. Conor also rounded out his active gig schedule performing solo shows and was known to perform over 250 gigs a year. Conor's songwriting is filled with personal experience which gives a depth to his storytelling. He is an extremely engaging performer and brings a great deal of energy to his live performances. This energy is captured on this project and makes this album stand out among studio albums.

After performing full time for nearly 5 years, Conor decided to take a break from his active gig schedule and left New England to live alone in a valley on the Island of Hawaii. For 6 months he lived as a hermit, hunting his own food and living off the land in a hut of his own making while writing music, pursuing photography and field recording. Upon his return from the Islands, Conor began to tour New England again with a renewed energy and has made a name for himself as a performer who gives his all at every show.

In 2001 Conor released his first full length CD "Her Eyes" after his wife's blue eyed soul. Conor has extensive experience in the recording studio and has logged approximately 2500 hours on his own musical projects as well as singing and writing background vocals for a number of musicians. His current release is rounded out with some outstanding musicians including both the regular members of his band Big Blue World as well as Michito Sanchez, Dave Gerard, Kristen Miller and Rob Duquette.

Conor's music is original, thoughtful and will bring the listener on a journey they will not soon forget. Conor's band "Big Blue World" formed in 2011 and is a mix of world, rock, cuban and african music. Google search Conor O'Brien Big Blue World for more information.
