Album Notes
Nothing turns to something
I should have seen it coming
but it was moving way too fast
Something turns to nothing
like flowers in the winter
I should have known it wouldn't last

These are the opening lines in the title track of the latest album from Conrad Walz. It’s called “She Comes and Goes”, and it’s one of 12 hard hitting new tunes on the record. Though the song’s meaning could be literal, it also refers to the cyclical nature of things, the knowing that what is here today may be gone tomorrow... but could very well be back the next day. Well it’s not the next day, in fact it’s been five years since the last album, but Conrad Walz is back! With a set of songs that both rock AND roll, this stuff charms the ears and stirs the soul.

Hailing from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, it could be said that Conrad Walz is a product of his environment. The majestic Rocky mountains to the west and the simple, honest prairies to the east both find a metaphoric place in his music. Though his style could be described as rootsy, sometimes bluesy, alternative country tinged, pop rock music, he prefers to just call it rock n roll. Suffice to say the song is king in Conrad’s world. Melodic and lyrical hooks ride atop rough edged riffs and grooves while engaging the listener with heartfelt emotion, humor and a touch of attitude.

The latest album is a natural progression in Conrad's musical journey. It all began with childhood piano lessons, which set the stage for a teenage obsession with all things guitar. His path has since wound it’s way through many a band, across stages big and small. From solo acoustic local pub gigs to festival performances in Europe, from the whiskey soaked midnight ramblings of country/punk rockers, "Swamp Donkey" to the sugar rush power pop of WaxPoets, through highway blizzards, hotel brawls, and all manner of heartache, Conrad Walz has arrived only slightly worse for wear, at the here and now. Of course here and now comes and goes. The point is to enjoy it while it lasts!
