ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"I am excited to release my first album of solo piano music and in a genre that I have always loved, the music of Broadway. I remember the exhilaration and excitement of seeing my first Broadway performance, The Phantom of the Opera, and years later would perform weekly at 'The Broadway Grill' in Times Square. It is from this deep appreciation of the grand, evocative and inspiring melodies from some of America's most prolific composers that this album was created. I hope you enjoy the arrangements and performance of some of my all time favorite Broadway songs."

A native of Old Lyme, Connecticut, Constance (Connie) Howard learned to play piano sitting on her Grandfather's knee. She began studying classical piano formally at age 13 with Ward Davenny at Yale Music School. Although she did not major in music, it continued to be a big part in her life, as she played in musical theater productions and sang in the women's a cappella group Counterpoint at Stanford University.

After graduating from Stanford with a B.A. in International Relations, Connie spent the next year playing the piano and singing at a popular restaurant in Aix-en-Provence, France. After returning to the U.S., Connie began a career in equity research at UBS Securities in New York City. She was still very active in music, performing weekly at The Broadway Grill in Times Square, singing Broadway hits and accompanying other singers on the piano. She was the keyboardist and Musical Director for numerous Off-Broadway productions and performed her original songs in venues like Don't Tell Momma and The Bitter End. She eventually released her first independent album of original songs.

After attending the NSAI Songwriting Symposium, Connie fell in love with the Nashville songwriting community. She traded in her suits for some cowboy boots and moved south. Just a year after arriving in Nashville, she won the Grand Prize in the Nashville Songwriters Association Song Contest for her song 'Feel' which was later recorded by Jive recording artist Nikki Cleary. Winning that contest opened many doors and she soon began writing with many top songwriters in town such as Andrew Gold, Buzz Cason, Anthony Smith, Jim Reilley and Valerie delaCruz, to name a few. In addition to pitching songs to recording artists, Connie recorded and produced a second independent recording "Collage: A Collection of Demos."
