ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Cooper Getschal and The Beach Boomers
"All Cooped" Up"
on Tempo Key Records

"All Cooped Up" is a collection of songs that has "so much of me on it" that I couldn't call it anything else. I spent a great deal of time on the vocals with many layers. The title just seemed right.

"All Cooped Up" contains a little bit of everything from R&B Pop to Pop Folk to Country Swing, Honkey Tonk, Pop Rock, Reggae, East Listening Vocal Jazz, Humerous Songs and Even a potential Christmas Standard. If you're looking for variety... you've found it.

1. Where Is Love- w/m D. Cooper Getschal and John F. Robinson- ©2012 Cooper Cuts Music (BMI) and Marshall Hike Music (ASCAP)- John and I put this together by starting with a track he created and then adding the rest. Sometimes we ask the question where is love when we don't see or experience any. John and I cowrote my first major release "Falling In Love" recorded and released by Johnny Mathis back in 1984/85.

2. Strong to Survive- w/m D. Cooper Getschal and Lyndie White Wenner ©1994 Rhapsodies and Melodies Music(ASCAP) Getsch Y'all Songs (ASCAP) Tobiko Music (ASCAP)- Lyndie and I wrote this song just after I found myself living without my family in Los Angeles. My wife and children has moved back to the Boston area and I moved in with a friend Bobby O who allowed me to use his small home studio. The song is about being separated from someone you love and how hard it is while you're away from them.

3. I Never Knew Love Like This- w/m D. Cooper Getschal ©2012 Cooper Cuts Music (BMI)- This is one of those songs that took me a while to finish. The chords and melody came to me quickly at the beginning of summer 2012 and it took about 3 months to get the lyrics together. I wrote serveral other songs while I was trying to finish this one. Once I had the lyrics it kind of sang itself. It makes me feel good to listen to it.

4.Beast Inside My Heart- w/m D. Cooper Getschal, Steve Deutsch, and John Bettis © 1988/ 2012 Cooper Cuts Music(BMI) and Ollie Q Music (ASCAP)- This song has a long and I do Mean Long History. Steve and I started it and recorded almost all of it in 1988. I spent 6 months in LA back in 2000 and we worked on it again by adding real drums and bass. When I got the original tracks from Steve who had transferred them into Pro Tools and made files to send me, I was so excited that I started to add more singing and what you'll hear is the end result 24 years in the making!

5. Sista Nicoletta- w/m D. Cooper Getschal and Lyndie White Wenner ©2011 Cooper Cuts Music (BMI) and Tobiko Music (Ascap). Before "Sista Nicoletta" was included on this album is was released on the "UP Country" album just prior to this album's release. People have asked me who is Sista Nicoletta? Is she a nun? Is she a native island woman? Is she a priestess? No none of the above. That's Lyndie's sister who lives in Grand Cayman. If you work really hard and need a vacation song to remind you of why you're working so hard. This is it. I can taste the sweet dark rum now!

6. Mighty Love- w/m D. Cooper Getschal and John F. Robinson ©2012 Cooper Cuts Music (BMI) and Marshall Hike Music (ASCAP)- This is another song that started with a track from John. After hearing the music I asked John what the title should be. He said "Mighty Love" and that helped me to put the melody together and hang the words on it. Loved singing the backgrounds. The whole thing was put together by swapping files over the Internet. Truly a bicoastal collaboration.

7. Most Of The Time- w/m D. Cooper Getschal and Evelyne Love Cooper- ©1966/2011 Cooper Cuts Music (BMI) My mother was a songwriter who wrote plenty of songs for people like Pearl Bailey, Sophie Tucker and countless others. "Most Of The Time" was partially complete and I added the finishing touches. This song actually induced me to do a smooth jazz album with my good friend and collaborator Alan Palanker. That album is called "Smooth" and it's on Palm Beach Jazz Records- available everywhere.

8. Christmas Wish- w/m D. Cooper Getschal and Evelyne Love Cooper- ©1966/2011 Cooper Cuts Music (BMI) This is another Coop and his mom projects. The original melody stuck in my head since I was a kid but the words were quite identifiable as coming from a "previous" generation. A friend of mine asked me to write a Christmas Song for her Christmas Album. I took the old familiar melody in my head and tried to make the kind of song that Bing Crosby would sing in a movie about Christmas.

9. All Hat and No Cattle- w/m D. Cooper Getschal ©2012 Cooper Cuts Music (BMI)- Every once in a blue moon I'll overhear a few words from a nearby conversation or a soundbite on TV that makes me run for the blank paper. When I heard a Texas politician tell the TV audience that his opponent was all hat and no cattle I knew that this was a spectacular title and I had to be the first to write a song and publish it. This is the ultimate "bullsh**" song about a guy who thinks he down-home but he's really "an urban cowboy" and everyone around him knows it...

10. Just South Of Sober- w/m D. Cooper Getschal and Anthony James ©2011 Cooper Cuts Music (BMI) and Anthony James- When Anthony and I sat down to write together one time, I was listening to something that he had written down earlier in the day and when i heard the words' South Of Sober" I knew that was a title all by itself... so we stole it and made a new song. Yes it's another drinking song about a guy who doesn't have a girlfriend anymore... but it's pretty funny!
