ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The music on Bad to the Bow was played with ordinary acoustic cellos. With the exception of reverb, no overt electronic effects were used on the cellos. Some of the pieces feature voices - both human and animal (there are effects on some of the vocal tracks). The method used for recording most of the non-solo pieces was to improvise a track, then immediately overdub tracks on top of it, without listening back first. This was to keep the process fresh and spontaneous. As a result, there are some musical 'warts', but hopefully some magic too!

- Corbin Keep

"Corbin Keep’s whimsy and wit were delightful features of his first cd, Call of the Wild Cello. But they may have diverted attention somewhat from his virtuosity, his compositional brilliance, and the extraordinary breadth and depth of his musical education. Bad to the Bow brings them all front and center this time. Profound without ever being pretentious, moving without ever being maudlin, endlessly inventive, the product of a beginner’s mind and a master’s hands, Bad to the Bow is good to the ear."

-- Spider Robinson, Hugo and Nebula Award winning author of VERY HARD CHOICES
