ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
RHYTHMS OF THE HEART
Takunde. Even the word speaks of the rhythms that course through Corina Bartra’s latest album. The sounds of Peru, Brazil, Cuba and the heart of an artist who has been making groundbreaking rhythms for decades. And with some of the same musicians most of that time—like Vince Cherico on drums and Perico Diaz on cajon—creating a tight rhythm loop that also can extend to melodic interpretations of standards. Mix in Corina’s own originals, like “Ecstasy Green,” “Goza y Baila,” “Bahia” and “Purple Heart Sky” and you get Takunde, the latest collection from a master jazz performer.—Mark Fogarty
