A dynamic and compelling performer, Corliss mesmerizes audiences with her deeply intimate and intense style.

She has opened for Phoebe Snow, The Roches, Steve Forbert, Ted Hawkins, Toshi Reagon, Lisa Germano, Judith Casselberry and Leon Russell.

Corliss recorded an 8-song CD, entitled "Broken," in Los Angeles, with the talented musicians of Peter Himmelman's band, which she has released on her own eggsongs to rave reviews.

"One of the finest Indie CD's out there." stated Vin Scelsa, DJ of WNEW-FM, NYC.

The Bergen Record stated, "Broken is filled with textural music, atmospheric and haunting, and Corliss' emotionally intense vocals."

The Star Ledger called Jan Corliss, "An intense, provocative singer-songwriter-guitarist."

The Hudson Current describes Corliss as "A 90's beat poet with sharp incisors...Her voice is alternately bottled rage, whispery vulnerability, staccato gunfire."

The Aquarian stated, "Her songs are drenched in lyrics ripped from the soul."

The New York Weekly explains, "What keeps fans on the edge of their seats is the intensity of this songwriters material."

In addition to performing at many NYC clubs including: The Mercury Lounge, Café Sin-e, CB's Gallery, The Sidewalk Café, The Turning Point (Piermont, NY), The Saint (Asbury Park, NJ), Maxwell's (Hoboken, NJ), The Outpost (Montclair, NJ), Corliss has also been invited to participate in various Industry Showcases such as The New Music Seminar, The ASCAP East Coast Pop Songwriters Workshop, and The NYU Independent Music Fest.

Corliss plans to return to the studio this summer to record a new CD which is tentatively scheduled for release in September 2001.

In the meantime, Corliss will be touring the East Coast and debuting much of the new material which will appear on the upcoming CD.

Jan Corliss is a treasure of a voice. I had heard about the CD a few years ago and kind of forgot about it. Then the name just popped into my head one day and decided to order. Boy am I glad I did! Song after song provides a view into the soul of a great singer. Hope to hear more from Jan in the future.
