Album Notes
San Francisco based Cory Jamison follows up her critically acclaimed debut CD with "Kenton's Cool School - The Music of June Christy, Chris Connor, and Anita O'Day." Bringing her own distinct point of view, Jamison celebrates the genius of Stan Kenton and his series of gifted lead singers who collectively nurtured the predominantly West Coast "cool school" style.

Another winner from Jamison
Jamison charts her own course through these excellent songs. She has more a trained,'stage' voice than any of the three great jazz greats mentioned. In her own way she brings good, subtle theatrical nuance to the record. This isn't empty imitation, though one hopes anyone hearing this record will
also explore O'Day/Christy/Connor. Challenging singers to follow and challenging repertoire in its way too. Nice varied mix of fun/heartfelt ballads, good arrangements too. Cory is cool!!!

jazz / cabaret enthusiast
I had the priviledge of hearing this talented songbird several years ago, as she stole the spotlight from singer Randy Carmichael; at the Hoagy Carmichael Celebration in Bloomington, Indiana. She impresses even more on her new CD, with her reflective interpretation of these classic Stan Keaton Jazz songs. She pays due tribute to, and holds her own against; the trio of June Christy, Chris Connor, and Anita O'Day. She is an emerging star on the much underappreciated Cabaret scene. I highly recommend her latest musical journey, as it will not dissappoint any fan of the genre.
