Album Notes
In the Morning features the incredible voice of a man raised on Gospel, and Country, along with his amazing guitar skills and musicianship honed in countless performances in the vibrant music scenes of St. John’s and Halifax. Co produced by Cory and long-standing musical collaborator Alan Doyle, this collection features performances by renowned fiddler Kendel Carson, rising star Reeny Smith, as well as legendary string arranger Kevin Fox.

The songs speak to Cory’s influences and experiences on and off stage. The stirring country tinged title track written with Canadian legend Barney Bentall tells of a gypsy musician and the road not taken. You can close your eyes and feel the dance floor of a blues bar beneath your feet with the swinging Gonna be Alright. The gospel choir sings loud and proud in Gone. And with Over and Over, in what Tetford calls the most deeply personal song of his career, we learn of the tragic loss of a loved one.

In the Morning follows the 1999 release of critically acclaimed Grace, and two releases with award wining Roots Rock band Crush, featuring Cory and fellow Newfoundlander Paul Lamb. This is not to mention Cory’s work on dozens of other recordings as a player, singer, recording and mixing engineer, and producer. Nor is it to mention his thousands of touring performances as a sought after player and singer for everyone from Matt Anderson, Ron Hynes, Damhnait Doyle, and the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, just to name a few.

Most of Cory’s live touring these days is as a featured member of Alan Doyle and The Beautiful Gypsies.
