National awarding-winning song writer Cosy Sheridan and her wryly insightful songs have been showcased everywhere from Carnegie Hall to 'The Dr Demento Show'. In her new cd, ‘Live At CedarHouse’, audiences everywhere can get a taste of Cosy’s live performances and see why she’s been called “one of the era’s finest and most thoughtful singer/songwriters” and why Acoustic Guitar Magazine wrote, "If I were going to throw an all-girl dinner party at which I wanted to laugh and cry from the hors d'oeuvres to the chocolate pudding, Cosy Sheridan is the first woman I'd invite."

She appeared on the national folk scene in 1992 when she won the songwriting contests at the Kerrville Folk Festival and the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, and released her critically acclaimed CD “Quietly Led” on Waterbug Records. Folk Music Quarterly wrote: “When she’s accepting her Grammy, we can say we knew her when.”

Since then she’s been on the road, or home in Moab, Utah writing songs in her 1955 Airstream trailer-turned-studio. She released 5 more cds on Waterbug and WindRiver/Folk Era labels.

In 2003 she wrote a one-woman-show “The Pomegranate Seed – An Exploration of Appetite, Body-Image and Myth in Modern Culture” and released an accompanying CD of the music. The Salt Lake Tribune described it as “a bold unflinching look at issues affecting women’s lives.” Cosy performs the show all over the country – at colleges, high schools, and benefits for women’s issues. New Mexico’s arts magazine “Alibi” called The Pomegranate Seed “Sheridan’s soul bled directly to disc”.

Last summer she spent 6 weeks writing a song cycle for bestselling author Robert Fulghum’s new book, “Third Wish”, now at the top of the bestseller list in the Czech Republic and gaining popularity across Europe.

Cosy has also gained a national reputation as a songwriting teacher. She has been on the faculty at The Swannanoa Gathering in North Carolina, Summersongs in NY, California Coast Music Camp in California, and The Black Hills Songwriting Retreat in South Dakota.

Is Cosy Sheridan“one of the best new singer-songwriters in the United States"? “A buddhist monk in a 12-step program trapped in the body of a singer-songwriter”? “A very funny and enormously amiable entertainer, with a keen and wicked eye for the excesses of our fast-food, tv-happy and noisome culture”?
According to the critics across the country, all of the above.
Cosy’s own favorite is still one she received after a concert by a young woman in the audience: “you’re so real!”

Cosy, yes, but powerful.
Live at CedarHouse captures the essence of a live Cosy show. Sparkling improvisational wit, razor-edged yet genteel cultural analysis, and love in it's many guises all spill forth from Ms. Sheridan's songwriting and commentary. A good part of the tremendous charm and style Cosy brings to the stage is evident in this recording - and that's no mean feat!
