ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Hinterlands has a gorgeous, melancholy, evocative sensibility. Beautiful songwriting and singing." - Veronica Rueckert, Wisconsin Public Radio

"Atmospheric... honing a shivering, glacial beauty." - Jack Rabid, The Big Takeover

"Her solo work — especially on “Hinterlands” — is more stately and contemplative, her singing carrying a kind of emotional weight and purity…” - Randy Erickson, La Crosse Tribune

Courtney Collins is a singer/songwriter based in Madison, Wisconsin, "whose sultry, expressive voice would sound great singing just about anything," according to The Onion AV Club. Collins's first solo album Violet Night is a varied mix of indie pop, lounge, and electronica, with both original songs and eclectic covers. She updates the classic "Cry Me A River," takes Cheap Trick's rock anthem "I Want You To Want Me" and turns it into a melancholy western-inflected dirge, and puts an electronic spin on Idlewild's "Roseability." Other diverse covers and originals round out the disc. Recorded in Minneapolis, Minnesota with Andrew Thomas and Jeremy Ylvisaker (Andrew Bird, Alpha Consumer, Eyedea,), the album features members of Bon Iver, Arcade Fire, Gayngs, Fog, and more.

She previously sang in the electronica band Voltress and in the power pop quartet Arena Venus.

Collins is also the producer of "Chad Vader," a comedy video series by Blame Society Films that has been featured on Good Morning America, VH1, in the New York Times, and has over 150 million views. "So In Love" from Violet Night was featured in episode 3, and Collins lends vocals to various episodes of the Chad Vader series. She also serves as moderator and coordinator for the online series Beer And Board Games and Rated RPG.

She released her second solo album "Hinterlands" in 2017.
