ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
'New York Christmas Blues' is the second EP release for Courtney McKenna this year. The EP is made up of two mellow and soothing public domain Christmas folk covers and one rockin' original song with full band. The original song playfully discusses the commercial aspects of Christmas before reminding us all of the joy that spending time with loved ones can bring. The track captures a raw and muddy sound reminiscent of a classic 1960's rockband or a Ray Charles Album.

McKenna's first EP 'Renegade' was released on November 2nd, 2018. Both releases were recorded live and analog by The 83rd. McKenna approaches songwriting from a poetic and melodic perspective; the result is transformative, feminine and earnest. This latest release is a sneak peak of what's to come from the singer-songwriter as she begins to transition from a folk artist into more rythm and blues.
