Album Notes
Craig took time out of a busy recording/producing/touring schedule in 2014 (Music for TV/Film/Frankie Valli) to embark on his third solo endeavor, "Drummer Boy" the Christmas CD. The CD features 10 familiar Christmas songs arranged by Michele Weir, Randy Waldman, Vince Guaraldi, Keith Jarrett, Robby Robinson, Bart Samolis, Chris Smith, and Craig himself.

True to Craig's style, the CD is primarily a Fender Rhodes, trio-based rhythm section. Joining Craig on drums are Chris Smith on Keys and Bart Samolis on bass with guest artists: Mitch Forman (Fender Rhodes), Ric Fierabracci (bass), Robby Robinson (organ), and Rex Robinson (bass).

The CD was mixed and Mastered by Les Brockmann and features the artwork, graphic design and layout of Angela Carole Brown.

Legit Jazz for the Holidays
I've been a fan of Craig Pilo's work as a solo artist and first-call sideman for years now, and this album is every bit as high quality as those familiar with Craig would expect. As the liner notes indicate, this is a mostly Rhodes piano, bass and drums trio in keeping with Craig's other solo offerings, and which works perfectly to present these tunes in a way that's familiar, mellow enough to play while enjoying the company of friends and still has enough legit jazz chops going on to please as a focused listen. The non-Christmas-traditional My Favorite Things and God Bless the Child blend very nicely with the rest of the songs, and the playing is mature and first rate all throughout. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for some Holiday specific music that is also 100% legit from the standpoint of musical creativity and execution. So many Christmas albums feel like the artist was just checking the box ("OK, got a Holiday album in my discography - next?") but Craig obviously put a great deal of thought into this CD, with excellent results. Bake some cookies, pour a glass of wine, and enjoy....
