Album Notes
"Martha Stewart's Dog" was written because of a dream Michelle had. In Michelle's dream, she was in Manhattan and had crossed the street at a busy intersection. She then dropped her purse. Matthew Broderick stopped to pick the purse up for her, and she sang the hook of this song to him. It was so strange and nothing Michelle would have ever come up with when she was awake. And other than enjoying "Ferris Bueller" on occasion in reruns, she never really thought about Matthew Broderick. Therefore, she knew it had to be made into a Crazy Aunt Mary tune!

Crazy Aunt Mary has a voice, a guitar, a bass, and songs unlike anyone else. Lauded by critics and devoted to her fans, her animals, and to charity, her lyrics and music take her through the looking glass where she’s hoping to find Steely Dan, Randy Newman, Kate Bush, Todd Rundgren, and she’s always bringing her friends along for the ride.

“Chrissie Hynde with Broadway chops.”

“A distinctive lead singer is one of the most valuable musical commodities a modern band can possess. On this front (they) succeed in spades, thanks to the prowess of vocalist/bassist Michelle Holmes. Fusing the dramatic clarity of pop with the pronounced intelligence of acoustic music, Holmes' interpretive powers are sparked by the sheer intensity of her potent rock delivery. Front and center, her voice is a beacon of clarity, illuminating the path of the band. Lead guitarist Steve Pinkney shines with both his muscular neo-psychedelic (electric) leads and as spotlighted on acoustic guitar ….”

“Whip smart and all art song writer Michelle Holmes on bass and vocals and a lesson in what song writing is all about. Michelle is crazy like a fox with hair just as red and a head full of small words and big ideas … Steve (Pinkney) is that kind of music guitar guy … that doesn't look flashy when he makes a damn near impossible string of rapid notes seems like a throw away on acoustic or electric guitar. Whoo Whoo! That's music to remember.”
