Album Notes
The Crescent Katz’s off-the-cuff, no-rules, no-arrangements style hearkens back to the days when Sherwood “Shakey” Johnson was the king of pizza, and the emperor of fun. You’ll leave every show tappin’ your toes and smelling faintly like pepperoni. Today they are one of Sacramento's most popular Hot Jazz bands. They can be seen performing at the Shady Lady, Berryessa Brewing Company, Midtown Stomp, The Porch, the Sacramento Traditional Jazz Society and even playing authentic "Pizza Jazz" at Straw Hat Pizza.

Jazz Festival appearances include Rancho Cordova's Hot Jazz Jubilee, Monterey's "Jazz Bash by the Bay," and Sacramento's own Music Festival and Jubilee. Most of the members are a product of the Sacramento Traditional Jazz Society and the "Jack Teagarden" Trad Jazz Youth Camp.

“The Crescent Katz bring high energy and fun to their music, keeping true to the long standing legacy that has preceded them. It doesn’t hurt that each and every one of them have been touched by more than one giant in the business. This is Jazz done right!””
– Jason Wanner

We used to be superheroes before we were reincarnated as musicians.

Brandon Au (low brass) used to be a Machine from the future sent back through time to protect humanity, but now he plays a pretty mean bone.

Greg Sabin (mid strings) could leap tall lasers in a single bound and shoot buildings from his eyes (or was that the other way around...). He is now a master string manipulator.

Jeff Kreis (high brass) was a master of Mind Control... and perhaps he still is- that would explain a lot actually- now a truly unstoppable force on trumpet.

Priscilla Ornelas (Tuba) Priscilla's super power involved ***CENSORED***
and she brings the same level of intensity to her tuba playing.

Patrick Skiffington (The Washboard) Playing a washboard is a super power in it's own right, but before that Patrick could alter any object's molecular structure into beer.

All members play in local bands but have joined forces to bring the thundering sound of "Pizza Jazz" back to it's rightful home in Sacramento!

Dear gentlefolk of Sacramento,
Or maybe I should say "hats and cats,"
I want you to lend an ear
to some really shimmering sharps and flats.
Provided of course by Sacramento's very own Crescent Katz.
