Dream On

by Cris Cuddy

“As Usual The Unusual” this cd veers through tributes to the brilliant “Sonny's Dream” composer Ron Hynes “The Night the Lights Blew Out in St. John's Newfoundland” and another to the great Tammy Wynette for her brave struggle to be heard against the odds, in the title track “Dream on Baby Dream On”, then on to lovely and sad in “She's Not Coming Back” and the infectious “I'm on my way to Trinidad” written with pal and award-winning Prairie Oyster steel guitarist Dennis Delorme (also dubbed “the Jimi Hendrix of the steel” when he was a member of Max Mouse and the Gorillas before his Oyster days), the psychedelic poetry of “Faces in the Fire”, the rollicking “The Same Old Game”, the memory-laden “Yesterday's Lady”, the feverish gallop of “Silver Maclean”, the sad wartime truth of “Anna”, all leading up to the reflective time-capsule in “Hillbilly Days” and on to the heart-breaking ballad “Blue on Blue”.

The Lonesome Road Review

Past CD's have led to his songs being featured on 2017's Grammy nominated North by South by IBMA Star Claire Lynch, and Americana and Bluegrass Artists like IBMA Best Guitarist Jim Hurst (ex-Claire) who ripped it up with his firey version of “Long and Lonesome Old Freight Train”, IBMA Winners The Spinney Bros. chose the moving “Sally’s Waltz”, Juno Stars Prairie Oyster who aced “Tom Cat” & “Long and Lonesome”, plus songwriting great and mentor Mickey Newbury who used Cris’s “What if Frankie Doesn’t Like It” (and yes, it's about Old Blue Eyes) as a segue on his masterful “Long Road Home”..more in the works including the lovely reading of “Dear Elvis” by emerging “talent on the rise” Shaye Zadravek, scheduled for June release.
“Tortured-with-a-twist-honkey-soul-twang”
