Album Notes
The Criterions Jazz Ensemble performs a variety of traditional big band and contemporary jazz literature. Their latest “I Hear a Rhapsody,” was recorded in May of 2014 and is the first recording project the band has done since 2006. In addition to concerts at the West Chester University School of Music, the ensemble is often invited to play at high school jazz competitions and festivals in the tri-state area. Recent engagements include the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association annual conference and the 2014 International Trumpet Guild conference backing guest artists Randy Brecker, Bobby Shew and John Swana. This recording was funded in part by the West Chester University Friends of Jazz. The ensemble is under the direction of Dr. Marc Jacoby.
