Based in Astoria, Oregon, Acústica is a unique musical group in the Pacific Northwest Coast which offers a magnetic fusion of intercultural and a linguistic musical experience to the listener. Acústica, conceived by Multi-Lingual vocalist Dolores Villareal in December 2010, was formed to provide an unparalleled and special blend of musical culture. Thus, a special mix of international songs were selected to be performed in six languages. Ms.Villareal is currently accompanied by a talented group of musicians including Dave Ambrose on bass, Matthew Crichton on percussion and John Orr on guitar, for a blended ethnic sound. Together, Acústica brings years of experience and provides an incomparable repertoire to the Oregon coast.
Their repertoire can be described as a vintage, global sound which features sambas, mornas, boleros, cha chas, lambadas, french classics, bossa novas, flamenco, rumbas, jazz and tangos. Acústica's music spans the generations and world borders and covers music from a wide era of time...from the 1900’s -1960’s. Songs are performed in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, Cape Verde Creole, Finnish and of course, English. Each song arrangement has been carefully crafted and selected for its' melodic value, meaning and for the appeal in the composers personal background. Every song reveals a moving tale, which is then musically translated to the audience so that a true connection can be made to the message of the music.
