Album Notes
The Culver City Dub Collective produced by Franchot Tone and Adam Topol features some of the funkiest dub musicians this side of Kingston, a collective including many of the most talented musicians in LA.

The record came about after Adam Topol decided he wanted to make a record in the dub style reminiscent of the early records produced by King Tubby and Lee "Scratch"Perry.
Adam recruited his buddy Franchot and they booked several months at LA's Crash Test Studios to record the tracks. Having layed down the basic tracks they needed some extra talent to complete the project.

The record features the following ALL-STAR line-up of players:
Adam Topol- Drums and Percussion
Franchot Tone- Guitars
David Ralicke- Trombone
Merlo- Sub-bass
Chris Joyner- Keyboards
David Urquidi- Saxophone and Flute
Wil-Dog- Bass
Eric Avery- Bass
Scott Wardinsky- percussion

Although you probably won't see this collection of extraordinary players on stage at the same time you may catch many of the individuals on tour with the following bands: Jack Johnson, Ozomatli, Beck, Poncho Sanchez, Alannis Morrisette and others.

The album was mixed and mastered by Engineer Extraordinaire, Robert Carranza. Robert is best known for his work with The Beastie Boys and Los Lobos.

Several tunes from this amazing line-up will be featured in the next big surf film from The Malloy's and Jack Johnson entitled "A Broke Down Melody" Look for it in theatres October 2004.

Culver City showing the rest of the world how its done...
i am a firm believer that you form your opinion of music, good or bad, within the first few seconds of that new sound hitting your eardrums. there are sometimes when you are completely hooked within the first few notes of the first track, and i'm here to say that the Culver City Dub Collective disc is no exception. the deep grooving bass lines and melodic horn playing instantly had my feet moving on their own and before i knew it i had landed on the islands in the 60s. if you haven't picked up this cd, do yourself a favor and pick up the hottest dub album (in my opinion) ever released.

Great sounding reggae tracks.
I picked up a copy at the Jack johnson merch booth on his latest tour. I was amazed at what an awesome record this is. Great selection for relaxing or driving. Its a must have for any reggae fans.

Adam Topol does it with style and grace
Adam's amazing laid back grooves and infecious hooks only begin to define how solid Culver City Dub Collective really is. Merlo's great sub-bass work and the horn arrangements are even more elements that make this group fantasic.... Well worth the purchase.

Seamless, Speechless
the music on this record borders on mastery, seamless in its composition and execution. to be honest, i don't have the words to express the subtlety of this music. buy a copy and you'll be surprised at how surprised you are that it's so groovy. but don't be surprised if you listen to it so much that the cd laser burns through the bottom of the disc.

fantasitc tunes awsome croozing music!

A Lost Studio One Recording from the 70's?
Did the Culver City Dub Collective really record this record years ago at Studio One? If not, they should have. Every track is solid and TIGHT. Soul abounds. Hit play and let the groove take you away.

I had high expectations for this cd knowing it is coming from Adam Topol and it is nothing short of amazing. The infectious groove perfectly captures the soulful passages of classic reggae dub complications. A great listen!

Marley meets WAR
The track the Count is familiar in tone and approach yet fresh as a daisy with it's greasy humor and lazy sense of Bushmills Kewl.

This is CD is great because the songs are reminders of why music is so fun to listen and play! Goodnight Lily Court is one of my new favorites.
