ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
A music collection of melodic and memorable New Age Pop instrumentals of leisure and freedom are interpreted on American composer and pianist Curtis Macdonald’s CMMP album download and streaming release “Breeze”. An inspiring and refreshing musical adventure saturated with the influential sounds of World Beat, Jazz, EDM and Ambient Chill.

“Celebrating the release of obligation with a tribute to sunrise horizons and moonlit beaches.” This is Curtis Macdonald's “Breeze”. A flowing narrative of contemporary new age pop where each track has a reflective and encouraging quality which can kindle the listener's visual imagery. The expressive and mood inducing arrangements along with Macdonald's signature lyrical piano melodies create an appealing atmosphere that is at times moderate and then upbeat and energetic.

“All the compositions portray an attitude of freedom, liberty and escape” says Macdonald of the twelve track album. “It's a musical vacation from the day to day and is a melodic representation of what one would feel when relieved from their daily structure and allowed to adventure off to new experiences.”

Melody is at the forefront of Macdonald's compositions. His return to the popular song form of lyrical verses and catchy chorus that was well received on his previous CD's “When Dreams Come True” and “Falling Into Midnight” is a departure from the sonic wallpaper style of his chilled jazz “Los Angeles” and spa meditation release “A Whisper to Remember”. “I search for simplicity and memorable occurrence with my melodies” says Macdonald, “I have appreciated many popular musical styles throughout the decades and that has had a major influence on how I construct my music.” “If the melody repeats in your ears at a time when the music is not present, then I've accomplished one of my goals in the creation of my art.”

You can hear such memorable melodies and refreshing energy on such tracks as “Expedition”, “Passenger in Paradise”, "Calm Islands Call" and the adventurous "On the Waves of Freedom". The nocturnal chill on "Shadows on the Shore" and "Ride Under Midnight Skies". The easy going effervescence on "Breeze", "Follow Where the Wind Blows" and “Lazy by the Bay” The intimacy on “Enchanted Sands”, “A Day Not So Far Away” and the passionate “The Sun and Your Smile”.

Macdonald’s compositions and various album releases have ranged from jazz to world beat, ambient new age to EDM. This time around he is offering up a new age meets world beat chill with a dash of EDM.

“In the last few years or so, musical styles have incorporated electronica as a staple production value”. “I'm amazed in what we can do today with sound” Macdonald says, “The depth of the sonic relationship to the ears as well as the new colors that can be introduced to accompany classic organic instrumentation allows a fresh new listening experience.” “This allowed me to introduce a unique sound palette as well as new popular forms and structure to underscore my melodies”.

Curtis Macdonald, a Southern California native residing in Westlake Village has been creating music and entertaining fans of the Jazz/New Age/Instrumental Pop genre for over 25 years. His recent 2013 release “When Dreams Come True” gained Grammy consideration and selections became heavily rotated on Music Choice's “Soundscapes”. His Eversound release “Everlasting” which received a Zone Reporter Top 100 Album artist in 2007, as well as a 2007 Grammy consideration.

He is a graduate composer from California Institute of the Arts, Valencia, California, and his music can be heard on a global scale at any given moment due to decades of production music composed for various music libraries and 20 full album releases of his personal "brand" of music that day spas, high profile restaurants, streaming radio and fans all around the world have come to enjoy. It continues once again with “Breeze”.
