Album Notes
Cutout Collective is an electronic/alternative project based in JHB,
inspired by music with melody and the analogue/digital divide. The Collective's
music is created from bits, bytes and head-popping synths...

The analogue digital divide: Music is in a period of fusion. Dance artists are making music that people can rock out to. Rock bands are making music that you can truly dance to. It's a rare thing for an audience to sit and watch a band anymore - crowds want to be engaged, and feel like they are part of a moment: not watching a show.

Cutout Collective create music using a fusion of instruments - digital
synths, drum machines and samplers meet huge acoustic drum beats and melodic
vocals, all under a blanket of imagery and light.

The band consists of:
Jason Hartford and Tim Apter - both multi-instrumentalists, playing keys, bass, samplers, and a variety of oddities.

Flikkerr - a visualist, playing with colours, shapes and shades.

Max Lehr - hardcore drummer, smashing metal, wood and plastic in
innovative ways to put a human beat into the digital domain.

Cutout Collective are set to grow radically in late 2008 with the
release of their debut EP on CD, digital and vinyl (featuring exclusive remixes by
Richard the IIIrd and Jacob Israel), a feature interview in the November edition of SL Magazine, and a mind-blowing first single and music video in the form of "8bit Logic".
