The Heavy

“The disc divides it time between Metallicas’ menace and Alice In Chains’ moodiness, right down to the austere, Jerry Cantrell-esque guitar textures.” – Evan Rytlewski, Shepherd Express Magazine

Album Notes
"This band’s name well describes the type of music on the CD: it is big, powerful, and moves mass at a steady pace. The opening track, “Angry Sunday,” sets the tone for the rest of the album, and the song’s title alone will give you more than a hint of where it’s going. The meter isn’t fast, but the bass and drums push hard underneath sizzling guitars and throaty vocals. Much of the album follows in this way, and by the end, your ears will indeed have been thoroughly plowed. What’s interesting about this Milwaukee group’s self-released debut is that while it’s as hard as the name implies, it seems to defy categorization. Certainly, heavy metal would be the easiest bin in which to drop it, but it also has elements of punk, especially in the lyrics and vocal style, and the occasional synthesizer bursts lend a trippy characteristic that makes the group sound more like Pink Floyd at their heaviest than anything else." - Maximum Ink Music Magazine (March 2008)

Band Members:
Chris Howard: Vocals, Bass
Remo: Guitar, Guitar Synth, Keyboards
Mike Runge: Drums

Short Bio:
Dad The Plow is a three piece rock group from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Their style emerges from such influences as Tool, the Foo Fighters, Seether, Chevelle, and various other hard-rock groups. With such inspiration Dad The Plow’s sound can be described as a mix of hard hitting riffs with melodic overtones. The band pools from all four members’ creative talents to write their material in hopes of capturing unique yet familiar hard-rock music. Chris Howard fronts the band with bass & vocals, Remo brings in his own flair with hungry guitars and keyboard overtones, and Mike Runge provides a solid rhythm on the drums. The band has played numerous shows over the past four years, ranging from local lounges with the likes of local heavy weights Bad Boy, and Spiral Trance, to venues with national acts such as Trouble, Bang Tango, and Pretty Boy Floyd. Dad The Plow continues to perform throughout Wisconsin and Illinois on a regular basis.

The Heavy
Just when you start to think that rock n roll has nothing new to offer- The Heavy by Dad The Plow brings it all back. Sounding in some ways similiar to all the hard rock you love, but then offering something new, raw and inviting. Dad the Plow gives the listener that extra piece we keep hoping for in hard rock. Each time I listen to this CD, I find a new element in a different song to keep me listening. This week its "Angry Sunday" - my personal favorite for Valentines Day Week!

These guys Rock so hard your beer will dance off the table and start a break dance on da floor. They have a unique style and sound, it\'s like a combination of haevy metal and headbangers ball. The entire band is well seasoned for taste and quality while belting out thumping tunes that push the limits of your senses, and, some sound systems. If you like to party, add alcohol, if you want your party to Rock, add Dad The Plow.
