Album Notes
Dale Jarrett is a professional musician trained at The Manhattan School of Music in New York City. He is a singer and pianist and provides a variety of musical entertainment, as well as sing-a-long and ballroom dance music. Dale’s rich high baritone voice and style could best be described as that of a big band singer with the bravura of a Broadway show singer. His music is upbeat, participatory, inspirational and uplifting fun.
Currently, Dale is the full-time Pastor of Believers Covenant Fellowship, an open and affirming, non-denominational charismatic congregation in the Tyson’s Corner, Virginia area. Besides his ministry work, Dale has dedicated his time and career to ministering in the senior citizen community throughout the greater Washington, DC, metro area. He currently rotates over 75 different retirement homes, senior centers, church and civic groups on a monthly basis in his performance schedule.
Dale also has a dance band called The Dale Jarrett Trio and performs for cultural events, country clubs, and senior dances throughout the Metro Washington, DC area on a regular basis. He has released four professional recordings on CD and cassette tape:
“Dancing & Romancing”, “Dancing & Romancing: Holiday Style”, “Into His Presence: Songs of Worship & Adoration”, and his most recent release “By Request”. He also recorded and performed a patriotic medley for the 1984 Republican National Convention which was endorsed by President Reagan. Over the years, Dale has performed for Presidents Reagan, Bush, and Clinton.
Dale was born in 1963 in Jacksonville, Florida, the first born of Richard and Carolyn Jarrett. He was raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, and lived in New York City during his college/formal training years. He has lived in the metro Washington, DC area since 1985 and has happily shared his life with his partner, Garrey, since 1987.

Musical Training: Dale grew up in a musical family with both his father and mother singing, playing guitar and piano. His mother says that Dale’s first show of musical potential began at the age of 2 when she taught him to play chopsticks along with her accompaniment! It wasn’t until he was 7 years old that his grandparents gave him a small organ, and then a small piano that the real potential became evident.
At the age of 10, Dale began studying piano with Bennie Jean Diffenderfer Costadura in Jacksonville, Florida. Bennie Jean recognized Dale’s natural ear and abilities and began disciplined training to master the piano.
It was in junior high and high school that Dale began to sing and show an even greater potential for vocal performance. He credits his high school choral director, Joyce Helms of Matthews, North Carolina, along with renowned director/conductor Mary Nell Saunders with inspiring and encouraging his talents. It was during this time that he began studying voice with renowned Charlotte voice teacher, Fran Shafter who poured her time and energy into training and mentoring Dale’s vocal skills. Later in Charlotte, he also studied with opera singer, Claire Simmons Allen who further enhanced his training and skills.
In his senior year of high school (1981), Dale won first place in the Music Teachers National Association vocal competition and performed at Arizona State University. He was then honored by the National Academy of Achievement and was labeled “The Best Young Singer in America.” All of these accolades fueled the fire to pursue a musical career and in 1981, Dale accepted a scholarship to attend the prestigious Manhattan School of Music as a vocal performance major where he studied with renowned voice teacher Margaret Hoswell.
During summer breaks from college, Dale began playing in piano bars and supper clubs. This began to strike a chord as he recognized his love for the great singers of the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Mel Torme’, Doris Day, John Gary, Tony Bennett, Rosemary Clooney all became models and mentors in their own musical way. It was more than just their singing, though, it was the music! The melody’s, the lyrics, the passion of Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Rogers and Hammerstein, Lerner and Lowe, Frank Loesser, and later Andrew Lloyd Webber began to woo Dale to his true musical calling.
So in 1983, without completing his degree at Manhattan School of Music, Dale embarked on pursuing a career as a cabaret entertainer. It was during this time that he was helped tremendously by Jack & Holly Hice of Charlotte, NC, to make this dream come true. He recorded his first two albums, “Born Too Late” and “Something Old, Something New” and they started him on a new path.
Through of series of life changes Dale ended up pulling up roots and relocating to the DC area where he was the musical director and pianist for a cabaret show at a DC restaurant/dinner club. One thing led to another when he met Alice Conway, an entertainment booking agent who began to help Dale find his way in the musical maze of show business. Eventually, Dale was asked to perform at the Chevy Chase House, a luxury senior retirement community and it was there he found the audience who embraced his ability, style, and most of all, his heart. Before he knew it, word had gotten out about his performance and senior community homes and organizations were seeking out his musical, inspirational and motivational abilities.

LIFE EXPERIENCE, along with awesome mentoring and training from other incredibly gifted people have combined to make Dale Jarrett the kind of person, musician and performer that he has become.
