Album Notes
Damian Espinosa Trio (DET) Bio

The Damian Espinosa Trio is Damian Espinosa on piano, Paul Steinbeck on bass and Scott Garrigan on drums-a hard-hitting jazz piano trio that plays an eclectic mix of music including original jazz compositions, selections from the standard jazz repertory, free & avant-garde jazz, R&B, and funk-influenced jazz. The Trio possesses a diverse sound built on driving energy, strong swing, and an extensive knowledge of styles. Over the past few years, the Trio has played in and around the Chicago jazz scene, provided music for private engagements, played at jazz festivals, accompanied silent films, and backed several instrumentalists and vocalists.

“The artistry of Damian Espinosa continues to glisten with the eloquence and proficiency of such influential pianist as Hancock, Corea, and Tyner. Their voices seemly intercedes but never overtakes the wealth of talent and imagination that Espinosa possesses as player...”â€"Rob Young, www.smooth-jazz.de

"Representing another integral part of the Chicago jazz scene" - Jane Mahoney, Creativity Magazine

"The Damian Espinosa Trio breaks new ground in jazz composition" - Richard A. Wang, former president of the Chicago Jazz Institute

"The Trio's energetic performance on their original tunes displayed virtuosic technique. They have a wonderful chemistry together" -Malachi Thompson, Chicago jazz trumpeter, review from JAAZ Fest 2002
