ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Jersey City based/NYC raised rock group DAMN GLAD is celebrating 17 years together with the release of 5th album of 19 new songs bringing their 5 album catalog of music to 73 songs. DG has had multiple line up changes over the years but what has remained a constant is the sound and chemistry of founding members singer/guitarist/songwriter, Matt Kurzban and drummer, Jeff Baker.

In mid 2017, DG once again found themselves ready to dig in to begin recording album #5 only for another bass player to leave. Matt and Jeff decided to soldier on with the vision and sound of what was built up til then such as they did with 4th album. Loose ends were tied on songs and new ones took immediate shape. As the body of work came together, Matt brought back a few of old tunes from the Immoral Fibres days (pre-DG) such as mood setting opener Should've Known Something Was Wrong, I'd Go Through Hell, Soul Crime and River Ego. DG definitely stretches out more on this 5th album as a handful of songs were developed through musical jams that twist and turn but never forgetting melody, harmony and the hook.

Matt took on bass duties again for the 2nd time as with 4th album Test Drive Happiness and locked in with drummer, Jeff on tight grooves with infused Motown/R&B style bass lines as well as all guitars, vocals and keyboards. DG also had saxophonist, Bryan Beninghove return on this album to blow a sweet, jazz sax solo in Status Bar Loading and a soulful solo in Lately I'm Falling. The campfire country song You Didn't Hear It From Me was recorded and produced by Nicola Stemmer down the hall at 9 Lives Studios. He also played upright bass and organ on the track as well.

DG's 5th album marks their 3 album recorded at DG HQ in Jersey City, NJ. Basic tracks began in Fall 2017 and all in and 19 songs later, it took quite the journey until finally completed in February 2019.

Now in 2019, DG is back with a new lineup featuring old band mate, Robert Cuevas on 2nd guitar, backing vocals and good friend, Rik Cava on bass.

DG is poised to make some noise.
