ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This album was made possible by all the wonderful people who pledged the Kickstarter campaigns and by all the wonderful musicians who played on the songs and by Gar Robertson and Dennis Moody who both did an amazing job! "It's been an amazing and educational experience, recording professionally," says Dana Larson. "Some of the songs we recorded I had written 20 plus years ago, and to hear them fully realized is a dream come true." Larson, a native of Los Angeles, found inspiration after moving to a sleepy town in Northern California, where she began writing songs. When she left there for college at UCSC, living among the red wood trees, and being on the music scene there, she recorded her first album. Sadly, no one will ever hear that first work, as the engineer pulled a fast one, and disappeared, taking the music with him. Discouraged, it was many years singing in cover bands before Larson finally came back around to wanting to record her own music. "I realized that I could use crowd funding, and pay professionals, rather than depend upon the kindness of someone's heart", she says. And that's exactly what she did! Now it's up, up, and away for Dana, as the release of an album is only the beginning. But, like her music, Larson is very optimistic about what's going to happen next! "Ever since I was a little girl, I've known my passion is performing, and bringing even just one person some good feelings. I'm excited to be in a place now where I can invite others to play my songs with me, and go give awesome concerts for lots of people!" We invite you to enjoy Desert Mermaid, as a dream come true of 20 years, and an expression of hope and love!
