ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Blending the unique sounds of jazz and blues, Dan Beck Band has achieved international
acclaim over the past year. A Salinas-based guitarist, singer, & songwriter with jazz, blues & a
bit of rock in his blood, Dan Beck burst onto the local music scene after quitting his corporate
job in organic produce and founded the Dan Beck Band to follow his passion for music and
storytelling. A composer by trade, Beck learned to play classical guitar at a young age and
has been entertaining crowds ever since he was in college. His first album with the Dan Beck
Band is released on March 31and celebrated with a live concert in Monterey.
Did you ever play an album that was so good, you listened to it all the way through the first
time, and then listened again? All The Fish Are Hoppin’, the first professional release from the
Dan Beck Band is that album. The instruments and vocals combine for a swinging 45-minute
set that ends with the title song. Along the way, original tunes such as In The Night create a
dreamy atmosphere to nourish the spirit.
"These are songs that a person can live inside of – can breathe inside of," exclaims the
band’s fan Raven Bocachica. "The music and lyrics of Dan Beck transport me to another
world, a world where the melody flows," she adds, “it’s very danceable.”
“Each instrument – including vocals – comes through distinctly and clearly in this recording,”
says Beck. “All of us did an incredible job on the project with special thanks to Gary Souza
from Real to Reel Studios and Aaron Rauber for their recording and mixing and Gregory
Thompson of InjuredEar.com for inspired mastering of our music,” he adds. Reminding us
that it takes much more than just good music to see a project like this come to fruition.
Guitarist, composer and vocalist Dan Beck wrote lyrics and music for all the songs with the
exception of the haunting cover of California Dreaming dedicated to the memory of the
original bass player, Stephanie R. Woehrmann. The late bassist – who passed away
unexpectedly in early 2016 – her voice can be heard singing background vocals on the
song.
The band is made up of five local professional musicians, along with leader Dan Beck on
lead guitar and vocals, Dave Prentice on drums, Robert Rosett plays saxophone and flute,
Tyler Reilly plays violin, and Pablo Nuñez on electric bass. Occasionally sitting in on percussion
are Macucho Bonilla and Sebastian Marchevsky.
In celebration of the release of All The Fish Are Hoppin’ on CD and vinyl, the Dan Beck Band
performs live in concert at Wave Street Studios in Monterey. Hors d’oeuvres and wine tasting
featuring Odonata & Manzoni Wineries are included with admission. Advance tickets
recommended as seating is limited.
The album’s artwork was created by local artist and arts activist, Trish Triumpho Sullivan, and
commemorated with a collectable, limited addition poster during the Dan Beck Band Album
Release Concert and celebration. The fine art posters with a Monterey Bay ocean theme are
a numbered edition of only 50, each signed by the artist.
The Dan Beck Band, best known for performing on the patio at 201 Main and the 1st Fridays
Art Walk in downtown Salinas, gigs locally at wineries and around the Monterey Bay. They
have performed at venues in King City, farmer’s markets, corporate and private events. The
Band is heard on internet radio world-wide and count fans from around the globe. This is
their premiere album recorded at Real to Reel Studios in Sand City.

SMOOTHJAZZ.COM REVIEW
The Salinas, California based Dan Beck Band is so fresh, swinging and soulful that they came up with a song, “Jahbluzion Confusion," on their debut album ALL THE FISH ARE HOPPIN’ to shed light on this unique blue jazz sound. The group’s colorful, organic sound is grounded in the breezy, Wes Montgomery influenced guitar stylings and the clever storytelling magic of Beck, who quit his corporate job to pursue his passion for music. Beck shares his thoughts on everything from childhood joy to relationships and world events. Straight from the land of Nobel Prize winning author, John Steinbeck, Beck's ALL THE FISH ARE HOPPIN’, where every song is a story and every story is a song!
